Q. What is Rock and Roll Jive.
A. Rock and Roll Jive, is the 1950’s version of Jive, associated with the music and fashion of that era. A simplified version of Jive Styles of the 1930’s and 40’s.
There are only about a Dozen or so moves, once you have mastered them, with a bit of embellishment and personal style, you will never fail to impress.
Q. Do I need to dress in 1950’s fashion.
A. Not at all, dress for comfort, we recommend you wear shoes with a hard sole, leather or a hard plastic. On Band Nights those that are into the ‘scene’ tend to dress for the occasion.
Q. Is there a set course.
A. Not at all, our classes are for beginners, and are ‘drop in’. Just come along when you can, and learn a couple of new moves each time.
Q. How long does it take to learn to Jive.
A. We usually find that most people pick up the basics in a couple of months, after 3 to 4 months, you should be Jiving with confidence (impressively).
Q. Do you provide personal 1 to 1 tuition.
A. We can, but learning in a class environment is more fun, If you are having a problem with a move, then we will help you after the lesson.
Q. Do I need a partner.
A. Not at all. During the lesson you will have the chance to dance with everyone. You will have plenty of willing dance partners.
